I will not remember you.
I refuse to recall
the curving of your waist
the laughter lines
around your mouth
the clear pools of your eyes
in whose still depths
I loved to swim.
I will not remember you.
I refuse to recall
the moments when you
held my hand
or whispered promises
soft commitments made
as we lay curled
in post-coital bliss.
I will not remember you.
I refuse to recall
that only yesterday
all my skies were blue
and all tomorrows on course
and set fair to bloom
with all the false promises
of love’s gentle wind.
